Aeromovel, a vehicle that connects the terminals at Guarulhos airport to the metropolitan train, is a 100% automated solution for passenger transport, ensuring urban mobility in a sustainable way, using compressed air as energy.

To power the control devices installed along the track, Metal Work supplied a compressed air distribution system, made of aluminum alloy with an exclusive patented quick coupling system, which allows for quick and safe assembly of connections, guaranteeing the tightness, easy to assemble, even in difficult-to-access places in an external or industrial environment.

The Aeromovel is propelled by compressed air at low pressure. In the Guarulhos airport project, Metal Work provided systems to control speed and braking, which is carried out using high-speed, pneumatically driven dumpers installed along the road, then in controlling the roads for car maneuvers, through of pneumatic actuators with integrated mechanical locking device. All applied actuators are controlled by electro-pneumatic circuits with redundancies for safety and high availability and with an interface for electronic commands.

As the application, at Aeromovel, has high availability and security requirements, all stages need to be analyzed, taking these requirements into account. To this end, from the quality of the compressed air which needs to have a high degree of filtration and dryness to guarantee the integrity of the elements in the automation, upon requirements, high performance systems were applied to separate the condensate and filtered, at the same time, allowing to eliminate the The need for maintenance in cleaning reservoirs and automatic drains, which, combined with the system that innovatively allows the exchange of filter elements while the system is in operation, will increase the availability of the system, reducing the need for maintenance stops.

he electro-pneumatic circuits, as well as the applied actuators, have availability certification, which allows prior knowledge of the life of each element, before any risk of breakdown. This requirement was decisive in choosing Metal Work, the high availability indicators of the electro valves and actuators applied are certified and have an interface to receive the electronic logic. In track control systems, the integrated actuators with automatic mechanical locking had to be customized for the application, which required validating them in Giga tests that simulate a track in operation thousands of times, in addition to certification of its availability.
